Keith Mayerson is a brilliant Senior Physiotherapist who joined the Guy Gold's team in 2024. We caught up with him to find out what he likes about working a a Physiotherapist in Camden, his areas of expertise, and his experience working as a Physical Therapist.

How long have you worked at Guy Golds & Associates?
I have been working at Guy Gold’s since February 2024.
What made you decide to practice Physiotherapy?
I started out as a personal trainer about 15 years ago, and eventually made the transition to a Strength and Conditioning Coach. I was able to work with many sporting organisations, including:
PacificSport Regional training Centre in Northern British Columbia, Canada
University of Northern British Columbia Varsity
Alpine Canada
Tennis Canada
United States Military Academy at West Point
While I immensely enjoyed my time as a Strength & Conditioning Coach, I felt I wasn’t able to best help the athletes. Many athletes had injuries/conditions they were dealing with that limited their ability to maximize performance potential. I was always wondering what I could do better to help.
When COVID occurred, I decided that it would a good time to make the transition to Physiotherapy.
Do you have any specific areas of interest when it comes to Physiotherapy?
As someone who works with professional sporting organizations outside the clinic, I enjoy the performance aspect of the profession. It’s not only about dealing with the injured area, but also restoring musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary function as well as sport-specific skill.
Post-surgical patients are another population that I enjoy rehabbing. Surgery is quite taxing on the body, and can cause people to feel quite distraught. It’s very rewarding helping patients regain their independence. Every single improvement the patient makes is a win to celebrate, as they get closer to being back to their normal functioning.
What do you like best about working in Camden?
Camden is one of the more unique neightbourhoods in London. There is a vibrant history of music and culture in the area, from the punk scene in the 70s and the early crafts market, to the cosmopolitan area it is today. Camden offers something for everyone.
What is something you'd like people to know about Physiotherapy that might not be commonly understood?
One of the most important aspects of being a physio is getting to know your patients on a personal level. The saying “treat the person, not the symptoms” is extremely important. At the end of the day, we want to see our patients regain full independence.
What is your favourite thing about working at Guy Golds & Associates so far?
The staff are extremely diverse and supportive. Everyone has a unique background that they bring to the clinic and we have the ability to share our skillsets and knowledge with each other to best help our clients.
